Grow your glutes, and make lasting progress at the gym.

When you think about it, it's not surprising that glute training is a challenge. They're responsible for motion in all three planes, and have overlapping responsibilities with other muscles. When you combine that with all the conflicting information on the internet, our motivation can quickly sour into frustration.

But that's where our expertise comes in!

Our head coach, Alex Sterner, operated the Glute Lab in Pacific Beach for two years under world-renowned glute expert Bret Contreras. For those two years, Coach Sterner spent time dissecting the most pressing literature on glute training under the tutelage of Bret - while at the same time training hundreds of clients and putting those methods to the test.

And here at EP, we've continued sharpening our skills to help our clients work towards their glute-focused goals.

Our custom programming is what allows us to shine the most in this area.

Hitting random workouts that you find on social media may allow you to see some initial progress - but this often stalls. This is due to the important distinction between training and working out.

When we train, we have a plan that's designed to address our specific goals. We then utilize deliberate repetition, track our progress, and work towards these goals step-by-step. Working out, on the other hand, is much more random in nature. Think of your typical group exercise class - where you're doing a completely different routine for every class. This may be entertaining - sure - but do you ever see people with dream physiques in a group exercise class? There may be a reason for this...

Training the body has many parallels to training the mind. If we're on a mission to pursue a specific area of study, we'll likely sign up at a college and build a class schedule for a semester. This schedule will repeat week to week - such that one class builds on the foundation that a previous class set. Of course, it may be more entertaining to attend random lectures as they catch your interest - you'll technically learn something, but it wouldn't be nearly as efficient as the structure and repetition in a regular class schedule.

And it's similar for following a custom program (training) compared to a group exercise class (working out). We use repetition and structure to drive our body to adapt in a way that aligns with our goals, and then only look to change things up to prevent our progress from stalling.

As it relates to your glutes, we'll design a plan that uses all three primary drivers for hypertrophy (muscle growth). We'll also make sure to train this complex muscle in all three planes of motion, so there aren't any muscle fibers that'll be left behind!

If we do this consistently, there's absolutely no way that our glutes will remain the same!
